Barbara Paist Technical Education Scholarship

Barbara Paist Technical Education Scholarship will ensure that Dufur graduates pursuing education in Lineman school, welding, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc. apprenticeships, aesthetic & beauty school and many others are ready for success upon graduation from high school.

Barbara Paist taught at Dufur School for 32 years before retiring from the district. She remained living in Dufur, and upon her passing in 2009, left her home and the contents to the Dufur School District to assist high school graduates who plan to pursue education for a trade or technical occupation. This scholarship is her legacy to all the students she taught, her commitment to education, and her passion for helping young people.

In 2021, the Dufur School District began the Ranger TECH Pathways Program, a career and technical education (CTE) curriculum dedicated to exposing students to a wide variety of Trade, Education, Construction and Health Services occupations available upon graduation. Ranger TECH, in concert with the Barbara Paist Technical Education Scholarship will ensure that Dufur graduates are ready for success upon graduation from high school.

To qualify for this scholarship students should be looking to enter a trade school, apprenticeship program, certification course or licensure accreditation. Examples include Lineman school, welding, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc. apprenticeships, aesthetic & beauty school and many others.
